Hi. My name is Dr Nathalie Huitema, and I have spent 20 years helping older adults and elder care organizations gain confidence around sexuality. My goal is to spread awareness around sexual health and sexual well-being of older adults by supporting long-term care facilities, assisted living, and senior communities with training and policy building in an interactive, informative way.
During my work in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, staff and administrators had no knowledge or training on sexuality. Consequently, staff deal with difficult situations as they arise, which is stressful for everyone involved, especially with a lack of process.
However, the solution is closer than you might think. There is a way to transform your long-term care or assisted living facility into a home where clients feel supported in their wish for intimacy and staff feels in control of any situation that involves sexuality.

In our work together, I will help create customized visionary guidelines and policy development for your facility to promote the sexual well-being of clients.
This will include an education plan, training to develop a professional team comfortable with sexuality in residents, client communication on sexuality, and sexual problem-solving skills.
